Mr. Edward J. Werder, MPA

Edward J. Werder is a competent and resourceful individual who possesses strong interpersonal skills, practical ethical behaviors and values consistent with community policing and the academic environment. Mr. Werder currently serves as a Senior Public Safety Consultant to the International City/County Managers Association (ICMA).
Mr. Werder held the executive position of Chief of Police in three agencies; as well as, Chief of Staff in full-service Sheriff's Offices in two counties in South Florida. He has also served as a Professor at a community college and an adjunct professor and facilitator/lecturer at eight universities in five different states. He is a published author in The Police Chief, two chapters in The Police Manager, The Beretta Leadership Bulletin, The Florida Police Chief, and others. Mr. Werder was also a CALEA assessor and team leader for more than 20 years.
In addition to his executive-level law enforcement experience, Mr. Werder started a police agency from inception, transformed another from a troubled agency into one of the city's strongest components of government service, and served as the chief operating officer of a 6,000 member agency. He is prepared to lead by example, has strength of character, personality, training, experience, and empathy.
