Leadership

The different theories of leadership are mutually explored in this course. The use of instruments, such as the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®) and Kouzes and Posner's Leadership Practices Inventory® (LPI®), are discussed and their relevance applied. The importance of developing effective skills in leading and managing subordinates, and influencing peers will be explored. The characteristics of effective leaders will be examined through case studies and scenarios.

Components

  • Leadership values and practices, key principles of leadership, practices of exemplary leadership, etc. will be a basis for self-application of long-term strategies for modeling supervisory roles.

  • Apply appropriate leadership styles to situational scenarios.

  • Demonstrate practices of exemplary leadership (i.e., modeling, inspiring, challenging, enabling, and encouraging).

  • Identify strategies for adapting to change.
