Succession planning is routinely thought of as an exercise in planning for the right personnel to replace command-level officers upon their retirement. Recent trends have demonstrated retirement plans are rapidly changing and the workforce is aging. Succession planning involves looking at the entire organization, personnel life cycle, and providing tools for employee success at all levels to ensure managers and leaders are selected and developed throughout their careers. In this course, participants are exposed to various strategies that can be used to ensure an agency assesses the systematic impacts of such plans.
